Help preserve 45 acres of outstanding natural beauty along South Harbour, Cape Clear Island
for public access & conservation
Ceart Slí don Uile Dhuine - Supporting Open Access
An island community striving to preserve the most south westerly headland in Ireland, currently accessible and enjoyed by generations of walkers, whale and dolphin watchers and ornithologists accessible to the public. Please support us and come and see for yourself. Céad míle fáilte roimh chách.
Please help us to buy some of the most outstanding lands on Cape Clear Island used for walking trails, conservation, ornithology and whale and dolphin watching. These include most of the lands on the south eastern side of South Harbour and include the very popular ‘red loop walking trail’, sea arch, outstanding sea watching vantage points and important habitat for the endangered chough. All these lands are designated a Special Area of Conservation. You can do this by purchasing unregistered ownership of plots of 5m2 or 10m2 of this land for €50 or €100 respectively. Each plot will be identified on a grid by its GPS coordinates and a register will be maintained of the respective owners. Each ‘owner’ will received details of their respective plots together with a certificate issued by the Trust. For the moment, funds collected will be administered by Cape Clear Co-Op until the Trust is legally established.
Alternatively you can make a donation of whatever amount you like. All the plots purchased will be accessible and can be visited at any time. As the lands are designated for conservation no further developments can take place and legal title will continue to reside with the Trust for all legal, administrative and other purposes.
